Cookie Policy
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They help sites remember information about your visit — such as whether you are logged in or what theme you prefer. "Similar technologies" include local storage, session storage, and pixels, which we treat the same way as cookies for the purpose of this policy.
2. Categories of cookies we use
We group cookies into four categories based on what they do. Only strictly necessary cookies are set without your consent; the rest are set only after you accept them.
| Category | Purpose | Requires consent? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeping you signed in, CSRF protection, remembering your theme and language, load balancing. | No |
| Preferences | Remembering non-essential UI preferences (for example, layout choices). | Yes |
| Analytics | Understanding how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Aggregated and de-identified where possible. | Yes |
| Marketing | Measuring the effectiveness of campaigns and product announcements. | Yes |
3. Cookies on votli.app
The specific cookies we currently set include:
| Name | Category | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
votli_session |
Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in to your VOTLI account. | 2 hours |
XSRF-TOKEN |
Strictly necessary | Protects against cross-site request forgery. | 2 hours |
appearance (local storage) |
Strictly necessary | Remembers light / dark theme across visits. | Until cleared |
cookie_consent |
Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie banner choices. | 6 months |
If we add analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this page and ask you to renew consent before setting them.
4. Cookies set by sub-processors
Some cookies may be set by third parties we rely on to run VOTLI, such as our authentication provider (WorkOS) and payment processor. These are only set when you actively use those features (for example, signing in or checking out). See our Sub-processors list for the full set of vendors and their privacy policies.
5. Managing your choices
- Cookie banner. When you first visit votli.app, you will see a banner where you can accept, reject, or customise non-essential cookies. You can reopen the banner at any time from the footer link labelled "Cookie settings".
- Browser controls. Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies. Note that strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to function, so blocking them may break sign-in.
- Do Not Track. There is no industry consensus on how to respond to "Do Not Track" signals, so we do not currently honour them. You can still opt out via the cookie banner.
6. Customer-hosted pages
When you visit a page hosted by a VOTLI customer (for example, on a *.vot.li
subdomain or a customer's own custom domain), cookies on that page are controlled by the
customer, not by VOTLI. Their privacy notice applies to those cookies.
7. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add or remove cookies. Material changes will be announced via the banner or by email.
